a drug that is used in treatment of cancers of the rectum, colon, or breast that have spread to other sites. Taken by mouth, it is converted to fluorouracil in the body; side-effects may include blood disorders (see myelosuppression) and mouth ulcers. Trade name: Xeloda.

cap·e·ci·ta·bine (kap″ə-siґtə-bēn) an antineoplastic that is converted in vivo into 5-fluorouracil and is used in treatment of metastatic breast or colorectal carcinoma, administered orally.
