an anti-androgen commonly used to treat prostate cancer because in men it blocks androgen receptors without reducing levels of testosterone in the blood, preserving libido and general energy levels. It is taken by mouth; side-effects include breast enlargement, tenderness, and pain. Trade name: Casodex.

bi·ca·lu·ta·mide (bi″kə-looґtə-mīd) an antiandrogen used as a treatment adjunct, in combination with measures to lower testosterone levels, such as administration of a luteinizing hormone–releasing hormone analogue, in the treatment of prostatic carcinoma; administered orally.
