apathetic hyperthyroidism
- apathetic hyperthyroidism
a condition seen in older patients with
thyrotoxicosis, characterized by weight loss, slow atrial fibrillation,
and severe depressive illness, rather than the usual florid symptoms. They have small goitres on examination and the blood tests confirm thyrotoxicosis, which is treated in the standard manner.
