urethral syndrome n a group of symptoms (as urinary frequency and urgency, pain and discomfort in the lower abdominal region, and dysuria) that resemble those of a urinary tract infection but for which no significant bacteriuria exists

a nonspecific group of symptoms considered to arise from a urethral problem other than urinary tract infection; it may include suprapubic aching and cramping, urinary frequency, and such bladder complaints as dysuria, straining on urination, and low back pain.
