Sto·mox·ys (sto-mokґsis) a genus of flies of the family Muscidae. S. bouffarґdi transmits trypanosomes to goats in South America. S. calґcitrans is the stable fly, a common biting pest that transmits many diseases, such as anthrax, infectious anemia, surra, and tetanus.
