ro·san·i·line (ro-zanґĭ-lin) a basic dye derived from triphenylmethane, occurring as reddish brown crystals, which is soluble in acids and alcohol and slightly soluble in water. It is used, usually as the hydrochloride, in the preparation of other dyes and as a component of basic fuchsin.
