P-R interval 'pē-'är- n the interval between the beginning of the P wave and the beginning of the QRS complex of an electrocardiogram that represents the time between the beginning of the contraction of the atria and the beginning of the contraction of the ventricles

the interval on an electrocardiogram between the onset of atrial activity and ventricular activity. It represents the time required for the impulse from the sinoatrial node to reach the ventricles.
