peltatin
pel·ta·tin pel-'tāt-ən n either of two lactones that occur as glycosides in the rootstock of the mayapple (Podophyllum peltatum) and have some antineoplastic activity:
a) or à-pel·ta·tin 'al-fə- one C21H20O8 containing two hydroxyl groups
b) or ß-pel·ta·tin 'bāt-ə-, chiefly Brit 'bēt-ə- one C22H22O8 containing only one hydroxyl group with the other replaced by a methoxyl group
