a complex of symptoms characterized by pain, tension, and weakness in a limb when walking is begun, intensification of the condition until walking becomes impossible, and disappearance of the symptoms after a period of rest. It is caused by reversible muscle ischemia that occurs in occlusive arterial disease of the limbs. Called also Charcot syndrome and angina cruris.
