in·dane·di·one (in″dān-diґōn) any of a group of synthetic anticoagulants derived from 1,3-indanedione; they are chemically different from the coumarin (q.v.) drugs but similar to them in structure and actions, i.e., they impair the hepatic synthesis of the vitamin K–dependent coagulation factors (prothrombin, factors VII, IX, and X).
