het·er·och·ro·ny (het″ər-okґrə-ne) [hetero- + chron-] 1. the formation of parts or tissues, or the occurrence of a phenomenon, at an unusual time. Cf. synchronia (def. 2). 2. a difference in the rate or time of occurrence between two processes. Called also heterochronia.
