gland of Lit·tré -lē-'trā n any of the urethral glands of the male called also Littré's gland
Lit·tré lē-trā Alexis (1658-1726)
French surgeon and anatomist. Littré described the glands of Littré in 1700. He was the first (in 1710) to propose the operation of colostomy for the relief of intestinal obstruction. In 1719 he published the first description of herniation of a diverticulum, which in this case was Meckel's diverticulum.
