do·co·sa·hexa·eno·ic ac·id (do-ko″sə-hek″sə-e-noґik) all cis-4,7,10,13,16,19-docosahexaenoic acid, an omega-3, polyunsaturated, 22-carbon fatty acid found almost exclusively in fish and marine animal oils; it is a substrate for cyclooxygenase.
