Cow·dry 'kau̇-drē Edmund Vincent (1888-1975)

American anatomist. Cowdry's areas of research included the pathology of virus diseases, rickettsial diseases, malaria, yellow fever, and east coast fever. In 1924 he discovered the causative organism (Cowdria ruminantium) of heartwater.

Cow·dria (kouґdre-ə) [Edmund Vincent Cowdry, American anatomist and zoologist, 1888–1975] a former genus of bacteria of the order Rickettsiales; organisms are now placed in genus Ehrlichia.
