Clarke Jacob Augustus Lockhart (1817-1880)
British anatomist. Clarke devoted himself to research in microscopic anatomy. His most significant work was on the brain and spinal cord. In 1851 he published his description of the column of nerve cells that now bears his name. He is also known for his original description of syringomyelia, reported in 1867.
