cit·ri·nin (sitґrĭ-nin) a mycotoxin produced by Aspergillus ochraceus, Penicillium citrinum, and related species, which contaminate grain; it causes mycotoxic nephropathy in livestock and has been implicated as a cause of Balkan nephropathy in humans.
