5-aza·cy·ti·dine (a″zə-siґtĭ-dēn) a cytidine analogue that can be incorporated into RNA and DNA; unlike cytidine, it cannot be 5-methylated, a process that is important in gene regulation and post-transcriptional processing of RNA. Used in treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes; administered by subcutaneous injection.
