- Myomectomy
- Surgery to remove a fibroid from the uterus. A fibroid, or leiomyoma, is a benign tumor that arises from the myometrium, the muscular wall of the uterus. The first myomectomy was performed by the American surgeon Washington Atlee in 1844.
