Infection caused by species of bacteria of the genus Vibrio.

1) an infectious disease of sheep and cattle caused by a bacterium of the genus Campylobacter (C. fetus syn. Vibrio fetus) and marked esp. by by infertility and abortion
2) infection with or disease caused by a bacterium of the genus Vibrio: as
a) an infectious disease of fish that is caused by a vibrio (V. anguillarum) and is marked esp. by hemorrhages and ulcerations of the skin
b) a gastrointestinal illness of humans that is caused by consuming raw or undercooked fish or shellfish contaminated with a vibrio (as V. parahaemolyticus or V. vulnificus)
