A sympathomimetic drug with relatively selective B2 agonistic activity, used principally as a bronchodilator or tocolytic agent.

ter·bu·ta·line sul·fate (tər-buґtə-lēn) [USP] a β2-adrenergic receptor agonist, used as a bronchodilator for the treatment of asthma-associated bronchospasm and the treatment and prophylaxis of bronchospasm associated with chronic bronchitis, pulmonary emphysema, or other chronic obstructive airway disease; administered by oral inhalation, subcutaneously, or orally. It is also used as a tocolytic in the prevention of premature labor; administered intravenously.
