Human gene map
The locations of the human genes. The location of each gene is called a locus (plural: loci). The total number of known gene loci on the human gene map as of June 24, 2000 was 6270. Chromosome 1 contained the most gene loci, namely 627, while the Y chromosome had the fewest, namely 24.
