plas·mog·a·my (plaz-mogґə-me) [plasmo- + Gr. gamos marriage] the union of two or more cells with their nuclei remaining separate; in fertilization, karyogamy follows. Called also plasmatogamy and plastogamy. Cf. karyogamy.
