Phy·co·my·ce·tes (fi″ko-mi-seґtēz) [phyco- + Gr. mykēs fungus] in some systems of classification, a class of fungi comprising the common water, leaf, and bread molds, which includes Oomycetes and Zygomycetes as subclasses.
