ovo·vi·vip·a·rous (o″vo-vi-vipґə-rəs) [ovo- + vivi- + -parous] bearing living young that hatch from large, yolk-filled eggs inside the body of the maternal organism, the embryo being nourished by food stored in the egg; said of lizards, etc. Cf. oviparous and viviparous.
