- A coenzyme of many oxidases (dehydrogenases), in which the reaction NADP+ + 2H ⇋ NADPH + H+ takes place; the third phosphoric group esterifies the 2′-hydroxyl of the adenosine moiety of NAD+.

(NADP) a coenzyme composed of nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) coupled by pyrophosphate linkage to the 5′-phosphate of adenosine 2′,5′-bisphosphate. It serves as an electron carrier in numerous reactions, being alternately oxidized (NADP+) and reduced (NADPH). Formerly called also triphosphopyridine nucleotide (TPN).
