lipoamide

lipoamide

* * *

lipo·am·ide (lip″o-amґīd) lipoic acid in amide linkage with lysine side chains of enzymes of the α-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase, branched-chain α-keto acid dehydrogenase, and pyruvate dehydrogenase complexes (q.v.). Its reactive disulfide group and long, flexible chain enable it to transfer intermediates among the enzymes of each complex.
