The N-allyl analog of levorphanol, antagonistic to the actions of narcotic analgesics; used in the treatment of respiratory depression due to overdosage of narcotics.

lev·al·lor·phan tar·trate (lev″ə-lorґfan) an analogue of levorphanol that acts as an opioid agonist-antagonist, used parenterally for its antagonistic effect in the treatment of respiratory depression caused by opioid analgesics; in the absence of opioid-induced respiratory depression it can itself cause respiratory depression.
