lac·tac·id·emia (lak-tas″ĭ-deґme-ə) excess of lactic acid in the blood; moderate elevations occur during heavy exercise, and severe elevations (lactic acidosis) can occur in diabetes mellitus and in genetic deficiencies of enzymes involved in gluconeogenesis. Called also lacticacidemia.
