a sense of fatigue brought on by use of the eyes for prolonged close work or in persons who have an uncorrected error of refraction or an imbalance of the muscles that move the eyes. Symptoms are usually aching or burning of the eyes, accompanied by headache and even general fatigue if the eyes are not rested. Medical name: asthenopia.
