ein·stei·ni·um (Es) (īn-stiґne-əm) [Albert Einstein, theoretical physicist, born in Germany, became a naturalized citizen of Switzerland, then of the United States, 1879–1955; winner of the Nobel prize for physics in 1921] the chemical element of atomic number 99, atomic weight 254, originally discovered in debris from a thermonuclear explosion in 1952.
