disseminated xanthoma

disseminated xanthoma
xanthoma disseminatum a rare type of xanthomatosis that is normolipidemic and is characterized by yellow to brown papules and nodules that may coalesce to form furrowed plaques. The most common locations are in flexural creases; on mucous membranes of the mouth and respiratory tract; on the cornea or sclera; and in the central nervous system, such as the pituitary gland (in which case it may produce diabetes insipidus). Called also x. multiplex.
