absolute viscosity

absolute viscosity
the frictional resistance generated in a fluid when two parallel planes are flowing at different velocities, defined as the frictional force per unit area times the separation of the planes divided by the relative velocity of the planes; measured in poises. Called also dynamic v. Symbol η.
