vena ophthalmica superior
[TA] superior ophthalmic vein: a vein that begins at the medial angle of the eye, where it communicates with the frontal, supraorbital, and angular veins; it follows the distribution of the ophthalmic artery, and may be joined by the inferior ophthalmic vein at the superior orbital fissure before opening into the cavernous sinus.
