valacyclovir hydrochloride
val·a·cy·clo·vir hy·dro·chlo·ride (val″a-siґklo-vir) the hydrochloride salt of the L-valyl ester of acyclovir, used as an antiviral agent in the treatment of genital herpes and herpes zoster in immunocompetent adults; administered orally. Following absorption, valacyclovir is converted by intestinal and hepatic metabolism to the active drug acyclovir.
