chicle ulcer
chiclero ulcer an endemic, zoonotic form of New World cutaneous leishmaniasis, found mainly in forest workers in southeastern Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. It is caused by Leishmania mexicana, transmitted by Lutzomyia olmeca. There are usually just a few lesions, self-limited and healing within six months; sometimes the pinna of the ear is involved, and lesions are chronic, lasting many years and slowly destroying the cartilage of the ear.
