North Asian tick typhus
a mild type of spotted fever, characterized by high fever, headache, malaise, conjunctival injection, a maculopapular rash, and a primary ulcerative lesion at the site of the tick bite. Besides Siberia, it has also been observed in Central and East Asia and a few other parts of the world. It is caused by Rickettsia sibirica, which is transmitted by ticks of the genera Dermacentor and Haemaphysalis. Called also Siberian tick t.
