A speech disorder usually occurring in childhood characterized by abnormally rapid rate, disturbed fluency, erratic rhythm, and poor articulation that makes it difficult to understand the speaker.

an erratic unrhythmical way of speaking in rapid jerky bursts. It can make speech hard to understand, and speech therapy is usually helpful. Unlike stammering, there are no repetitions or prolonged hesitations of speech.

clut·ter·ing (klutґər-ing) hurried nervous speech marked by the dropping of syllables, usually seen in children. Cf. logorrhea.
