postprimary tuberculosis

postprimary tuberculosis
pulmonary tuberculosis that is typical of a fresh infection but in which the person has actually had an earlier, probably subclinical, attack; it is distinguished by caseation and cavitation with healing that results in fibrosis. Called also reactivation or secondary t.

Postprimary tuberculosis. The upper parts of both lungs are riddled with gray-white areas of caseation and multiple areas of softening and cavitation.
