Trypanosoma simiae

Trypanosoma simiae
a salivarian species found especially in Central and East Africa. It was first reported in the monkey although its natural reservoir is the warthog; it is usually transmitted by tsetse flies but sometimes also by bloodsucking flies. It causes nagana in various domestic animals, being highly pathogenic for camels, mildly pathogenic for goats, and apparently nonpathogenic for cattle, horses, and dogs.
