trichomoniasis in birds and poultry, especially pigeons, caused by either Trichomonas gallinae or Tetratrichomonas gallinarum; characteristics include necrotic lesions of the upper digestive tract and liver, with diarrhea, anorexia, and weight loss, often ending fatally.
