abomasal torsion

abomasal torsion
torsion of the abomasum twisting of the abomasum of a cow, often three to six weeks after birth of a calf and after subclinical right displacement of the abomasum (see under displacement); symptoms include distention of the abdomen, acute abdominal pain, shock, and (if untreated) circulatory failure and death within 48 hours. Called also abomasal volvulus.
