vibratory tinnitus
tinnitus caused by transmission to the cochlea of vibrations from adjacent tissues or organs, most often from blood in vascular malformations. It is usually a type of subjective tinnitus, but occasionally the vibrations are loud enough to be heard by an examiner. Cf. nonvibratory t.
