leishmanin test
(for leishmaniasis) leishmanin is injected intradermally; a positive reaction consists of a palpable nodule developing in 48 to 72 hours and indicates delayed hypersensitivity, but not necessarily immunity, to Leishmania organisms. The positive result appears early in some forms of cutaneous and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis, but only after recovery in the case of visceral leishmaniasis. Called also Montenegro t.
