histidine loading test
(for folic acid deficiency) a loading dose of histidine is given, and the resultant urinary excretion of excess formiminoglutamic acid (FIGLU) is measured, because that is dependent on the amount of tetrahydrofolic acid that is present. Called also FIGLU excretion t.
