arginine stimulation test
(for pituitary function and growth hormone production) in a fasting patient, baseline levels are measured for growth hormone. Arginine is injected intravenously for 30 minutes and growth hormone levels are measured at 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes. A normal response is at least 5 ng/mL of growth hormone.
