melting temperature

melting temperature
(Tm) in molecular biology, the temperature at which half the length of a double-stranded nucleic acid becomes single-stranded; it is a function of the degree of match or mismatch between the two strands, the percentage of guanine-cytosine pairs in the molecule, and other variables. Cf. melting point.
