follicular degeneration syndrome
a type of cicatricial alopecia, usually beginning in the vertex of the scalp and extending outwards, caused by inflammation of hair follicles. It is sometimes called hot comb alopecia because it was originally seen in African-American women and thought to be related to hair relaxing procedures.
