Barrett syndrome

Barrett syndrome
peptic ulcer of the lower esophagus, often with stricture, due to the presence of columnar-lined epithelium in the esophagus (sometimes containing functional mucous cells, parietal cells, or chief cells) instead of the normal squamous cell epithelium. It is sometimes premalignant, followed by esophageal adenocarcinoma. Called also Barrett esophagus.
