- su·ra·min hexa·so·di·um (sooґrə-min) an antitrypanosomal and antifilarial agent, used in the prophylaxis and treatment of African trypanosomiasis and in the treatment of onchocerciasis (for which use it has largely been replaced by ivermectin). Called also suramin sodium.
