succinate dehydrogenase (ubiquinone)

succinate dehydrogenase (ubiquinone)
suc·ci·nate de·hy·dro·gen·ase (ubiq·ui·none) (sukґsin-āt de-hiґdro-jən-ās u-bikґwin-ōn″) [EC 1.3.5.1] an enzyme of the oxidoreductase class that catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate, using ubiquinone as an electron acceptor. It occurs in mitochondria as a membrane-bound complex, an iron-containing flavoprotein (FAD) with an associated iron-sulfur protein. The reaction is part of the tricarboxylic acid cycle (see illustration under cycle).
